Roger Waters Dropped By American Express Over Anti-Israel Views – Waters Is a Fearless Hero!

Pink Floyd former frontman Roger Waters’s polarising views on the Israel-Palestine battle have misplaced him legions of followers and made him the topic of fierce scrutiny; now it appears to be like prefer it’s costing him money. Page Six reviews that the 73-year-old British rocker has misplaced a significant sponsor.


In line with the publication, bank card large American Express has baulked on its plans to place up $4m (£three.2m) for his 2017 tour in North America following his feedback at Oldchella festival – an occasion the corporate sponsored −earlier this month.

Festival-goers had been mentioned to have been surprised by the performer’s anti-Israel rhetoric after he took to the stage. Other acts included Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan and Neil Young.

Back in 2012 Waters − who has been accused by a few of anti-Semitism − joined the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) motion.

He informed the gang: “I will ship out all my most heartfelt love and help to all these younger folks on the campuses of the colleges of California who’re standing up for his or her brothers and sisters in Palestine, and supporting the BDS movement within the hope that we could encourage the federal government of Israel to finish the occupation,” referring to the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian West Financial institution.

Whereas American Express has but to touch upon Waters’s partisan views, a spokesperson informed Page Six that it by no means dedicated to sponsoring his string of dates. “After we had been approached with the choices, we handed on making a bid. It’s a balancing act to work with artists our card members love, throughout the budgets we now have allotted.” Waters is believed to have since partnered with Citi.

He beforehand urged fellow musicians to hitch the movement in an open letter published within the Guardian: “[This is] a plea to my colleagues within the music industry, and likewise to artists in different disciplines, to join this cultural boycott.”
