Roger Waters has taken to Twitter account to defend former Pink Floyd bandmate David Gilmour‘s guitar solos in response to an article that implied he did not like Gilmour’s work.
He dismissed the article as “usual, shit-stirring, ill-informed nonsense,” but clarified that he did not agree with a quote attributed to him in the article. The quote referred to Gilmour’s guitar solos on The Dark Side of the Moon, and Waters said:
“Now, I don’t know who he thinks he’s quoting when he says Gilmour’s ‘horrible guitar solos,’ but it sure as shit ain’t me.”
Waters went on defending Gilmour’s guitar work over many decades and expressed his love for Gilmour’s guitar solos on Pink Floyd’s albums. He said:
“In my, albeit biased view, Dave’s solos on those albums constitute a collection of some of the very best guitar solos in the history of rock and roll.”
Waters and Gilmour recently had a public disagreement over Pink Floyd’s 2021 charity single, “Hey Hey Rise Up,” which led to accusations of antisemitism and support for Putin.
